A leather desk pad does something a cloth mat cannot: it holds its shape. The surface stays flat under a keyboard, the edges do not curl after three months, and a spilled coffee wipes off instead of soaking in. That is the whole argument for leather on a desk, and it is why the format has outlived every trend in desk accessories.

Ours are made from PU leather rather than full-grain hide, and we say so plainly. Full-grain looks better on day one and worse on day four hundred: it takes water stains, it darkens unevenly where your forearm rests, and it costs three times as much. PU keeps a consistent colour across the whole surface, resists the oils from skin, and cleans with a damp cloth. If you want a desk pad that looks the same in two years as it does today, PU is the honest answer.

Three constructions are available. The two-tone pad is reversible — one colour on each face — so the same pad gives you two desks depending on which way up it sits. The large-format pad runs the full width of a standard desk and takes a full-size keyboard, a mouse and a notebook without anything hanging over the edge. The leather and cork pad pairs a PU leather face with a natural cork reverse, for a desk that wants a warmer, matte surface some days.

The large-format pad has heat-sealed edges — a clean straight line with no visible stitching, which is the finish that suits an office desk. All three have a non-slip underside and a smooth, non-porous surface that a damp cloth keeps clean.

Choosing a size. Measure the space between your monitor stand and the front edge of the desk, then subtract two inches so the pad does not sit under the monitor foot. The large-format pad runs from 23.6×13.8 in up to 47.2×19.7 in — the widest pad in our catalogue; the two-tone from 23.6×11.8 to 39.4×19.7 in; the leather and cork pad in 23.6×13.8, 31.5×15.7 and 35.4×16.9 in. Shallow desks and standing desks are usually better served by the smaller formats.

Frequently asked questions

Is this real leather?
No — it is PU leather, and we would rather say so than dress it up. PU holds a uniform colour, resists skin oils and water, and cleans with a damp cloth. Full-grain hide looks better on day one and stains unevenly from there.

How do I clean a leather desk pad?
A damp cloth and nothing else. No alcohol, no solvent, no leather conditioner — conditioners are formulated for hide and will leave a film on PU.

Will it curl at the edges?
PU leather on a rubber backing holds its shape better than cloth: it lies flat under a keyboard and does not lift at the corners the way a thin cloth mat does. Leave it unrolled for a day when it arrives and it settles.

Does it work with an optical or laser mouse?
Yes on both surfaces. If you use a very high-DPI sensor and want maximum tracking consistency, a felt or cloth surface is the better choice.

Frequently asked questions — Leather Desk Pads

3 designs in this collection. Printed to order, free shipping with no minimum.

Which desk mat size should I choose?

Three simple reference points: M (11.8×9.8 in) for a crowded desk or office work, L (17.7×15.7 in) for gaming at medium sensitivity, XXL / desk mat (31.5×11.8 to 35.4×15.7 in) to put keyboard and mouse on the same surface. Below 400 DPI, XXL is the only format that leaves enough travel for a full half-turn without lifting the mouse. The size guide walks you through the three measurements.

How thick should a desk mat be?

2 mm: discreet, very direct glide, ideal if the desk is already perfectly flat. 3–4 mm: the best compromise, cushions the wrist without feeling soft. 5 mm and up: smooths out an uneven desk and reduces fatigue over long sessions.

Do these mats work with optical and laser mice?

Yes. The surface is a micro-textured textile read accurately by optical and laser sensors alike, up to high resolutions. The non-slip natural rubber base keeps the mat from moving during sudden movements.

How do I clean a desk mat?

Soft sponge, lukewarm water, a little soap, then dry flat in the open air. No washing machine and no tumble dryer: heat warps the rubber base. The print is dyed into the fibre, so it does not rub off. The full cleaning guide.

Can I have my own artwork printed?

Yes, through the custom mouse pad range: upload your high-definition image and it is printed on the format of your choice. A dedicated range exists for businesses (logo, brand colours, bulk orders). For a full desk, see the custom desk pads.

What about shipping times and costs?

Shipping is free, with no minimum order. Mats are printed to order: allow a few days of production before dispatch — the exact lead time is shown on each product page.
